A love Story Brewed to Perfection

By Laurette Veres

We are both from Houston. We attended separate colleges in East Texas. We met at church in East Texas when we were both college ministry leaders.

Our favorite hobby to do together is finding and going to coffee shops. We were in Houston to celebrate his birthday with his family. Before his birthday dinner, we went to Agora, our favorite coffee shop in Houston. That’s where he popped the question. No photographers, no other people around— just a simple and intimate proposal to suite us as a couple. He later drove us to a Mexican restaurant where both of our families and friends were waiting to celebrate our engagement.

We searched online for our venue. We wanted a venue that was affordable and elegant. We called the Grand Hall, and the staff was kind and eager to help us plan our special day. We toured the Grand Hall and loved it! We specifically liked that the vintage barn and reception hall were complimentary of one another. We appreciated how they were patient and excited for us to experience our special day.

Luke’s parents planned it all. After our wedding rehearsal at the Grand Hall, we all went to Craft Grill in Spring. They reserved a room for us to enjoy a meal together. The wedding party, family, and couple were the only people present. Again, this couple is all about simplicity

Aunt Silvia made the cake. She made a coffee cake Grooms Cake and vanilla cake Bride’s Cake. The guests were served cupcakes that were individually wrapped to endure safety during the pandemic. The guests got to pick which flavor to eat: coffee cake, vanilla cake, or chocolate cake.

My wedding coordinator was Megan Heard! She assisted in finding my florist, and all the decor for the table settings while staying within budget. I loved working with her and her team!

Megan will definitely make sure you have the best day ever!
